Food and Nutritional Security
Food and Nutritional Security refers to ensuring that all individuals have consistent access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and lead healthy lives. It encompasses three key dimensions: availability, which ensures that food is consistently produced and distributed; accessibility, ensuring that individuals can afford and obtain it; and utilization, focusing on the body's ability to absorb and benefit from the nutrients in the food. Promoting food and nutritional security involves improving agricultural productivity, reducing food waste, enhancing food systems, and addressing social, economic, and environmental factors that affect food access and quality. It plays a crucial role in public health, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development.
